My wife and I had the opportunity to dine here Saturday evening with some friends and business partners. The food was amazing and the chef put on quite a show for all of us. We had the steak and chicken which includes fried rice and veggies. The steak was tender and juicy. The chicken flavorful and not chewy. We also enjoyed a california roll which was fresh and delicious. A great memorable evening…we just wish Sophie could have made it. We saw pics of her and she looks adorable. Maybe next time:-)

Had the opportunity to have breakfast here on the dreaded Sunday after Thanksgiving (dreaded because of legendary holiday traffic jams on I-75). They were packed and the traffic was stopped out on I-75. We all had breakfast. Food here was average. We had two breakfast sandwiches and they were served open with little side packages of mayo instead of closed and the cook putting it on. So, they were not warm anymore. The biscuits tasted good but were not pretty shaped and some were burned. Our waitress, Ruby Jo, was absolutely awesome! Her friendliness and great service made up for the average food. If they could clone her spirit and attitude, they would double their business:-) Thanks Ruby Jo you made our meal ROCK!!

Was here for breakfast today and enjoyed it thoroughly. Bella was our waitress and she was fantastic. The food was great and Mark the Manager even stopped by and said hi. They were swamped by 9:30 waiting to get in. Want a great breakfast in Cumming? Try this place out.

What a difference 5 months can make! Sushi selection way down, sushi chef that was so good seems to be gone, great management we encountered before seems to be gone and service was spotty too. I have to say we went for a lunch and a dinner. Lunch was $6 and dinner was about $11. Cheap but not as good as previous experiences. Let’s hope that they get back in the groove again.

November 22, 2009 on Sbarro Italian Eatery Not Rated

My wife took me out to Volusia Mall and we decided to give Sbarro another try. This experience was completely different than my last. We had two combo meals with one being a sausage calzone with tomato and cucumber salad and the other was a sausage stuffed pizza slice. The calzone was cooked perfectly and was filled with tangy sausage. The stuffed pizza likewise was filled with tasty sausage and was delicious. One more thing, we also got to talk with the Manager, Phil, and he could not have been more cordial or more professional. A great experience and with the food being prepared well, now represents a pretty good value and a solid choice in the food court. Check them out!

Ate here last night. Fun atmosphere with a live band that was really entertaining. We ate directly on the covered dock. Wife had the fried grouper fingers. They were average. Son had hamburger. He said it was good, fries bland. I had the fried grouper sandwich on some type of fancy flat bread. It was very good and a generous piece of fish cooked correctly. Beers were $5 each…way overpriced. Sandwich was $13 and burger was $9. All prices about 50-65% too high for market. Then again, they do have the band if you are interested in that. Warning, Ponce Inlet cops are famous for stopping everyone. Be careful! One more thing, male manager looked and acted more like a security guard. No smile and not friendly.

Here I am again. This time, yesterday for lunch. We got here about 12:30 and the place was in full lunch mode. We made our way to the sushi station and the two sushi chefs had everyting out and beautiful. The sushi chef I recognized from my last two times. We have a bit of a language barrier but he is very friendly and accomodating. My wife enjoys california roll with the addition of cream cheese. They had everything but that out. We asked our server to convey to the chef a request for some. He made us a beautiful custom roll with a smile. For about ten bucks for a weekday lunch, this place is awesome. I just wish it was closer to us. We need one in Port Orange/Daytona.

Split a piece of pizza and a calzone today with my wife. The pizza was mushroom and spinach. It was just ok. Not as big as they used to be but the most striking thing was very chintzy on toppings. Not at all like this location used to be. The calzone was chicken and brocoli. It too was light on ingredients and not very tasty. It was also burned black on the bottom. I almost returned it but decided to skip it. Our bill was also high for the four of us. We had 2 drinks, 3 pizza slices and 1 calzone. Price was about $22.

November 7, 2009 on Wetzel’s Pretzels Daytona Beach Not Rated

Had a garlic pretzel there today. It was delicious. Probably could have eaten 10 of them. Just kidding! The lemonade is very tart and lemony tasting too. There was an asian lady rolling the pretzels and pretzel dogs today. I mention it because they showcase these items being made. She seemed grumpy and saw us watching her and actually covered up the dough and stopped making anything. We got a very cold feeling from her. Our group of 4 ranged from 13-73. All loved the pretzels but agreed she was not very nice. That is why I marked off for atmosphere.

November 5, 2009 on Down South Philly Grille 4.54.54.54.54.5

Big and tasty subs for sure. They are in the Big Lots shopping center where the old walmart used to be. Like I said, these nice folks know their way around a real cheesesteak.

November 3, 2009 on Leanh’s Chinese Restaurant 4.754.754.754.754.75

Have been here for lunch. The owner and staff are excellent. The food was delicious and the portion size about average. Very nice layout inside with everything fresh and new. They also have a Pho menu.

November 3, 2009 on Dairy Queen 4.754.754.754.754.75

This DQ has been a family favorite of ours for years and years. We don’t really eat the grill items but come here for the blizzards mostly and a dipped cone or two also. What can you say? The soft serve is always good in my opinion and the flavor variations with the blizzard keep it interesting. One of my fondest memories of this place is meeting my wife here all those years ago beside two palm trees.

November 1, 2009 on Booth’s Bowery Restaurant 11111

Well we ended up here to celebrate a family member’s birthday for dinner today. We were hopeful that our experience would be better than previous visits. Unfortunately, it was pretty bad again. Our “waitress” Kirsten, needs to find another profession. She was rude, effectively called one of our guests a liar and was generally not available for drink refills etc. The curly fries were very greasy and raw. The french dip sandwiches had very little meat especially for $9.00. The wings also drew complaints. All in all don’t bother going here. Go across the street to steel city pizza instead…better food, friendly service and better value.

October 29, 2009 on Bella Napoli Italian Restaurant & Sports Lounge 4.254.254.254.254.25

I stopped in and had the stromboli to go. It was a bit longer and narrower than ones I have had in the past at other restaurants but was delicious. It also came with a side of red italian sauce. This place has new owners (about two years) and they are working hard to make a good restaurant even better. I came into contact with about 8 members of their staff and everyone was very cordial.

October 4, 2009 on Ruby Tuesday Restaurant 3.53.53.53.53.5

This is an updated review. We had lunch here yesterday. The salad bar was better than ever at about 2:00 in the afternoon. Fully stocked, very clean and just a beautiful presentation all around. We both got the mini burger sliders with salad bar and fries. Burgers were good but a little undercooked. Fries were hot and fresh. Service was average. The best service we got was when she was bringing the check for me to pay. They currently have a club located on their website that gives you a bogo free and a birthday gift too. We signed up for next time. They have raised their prices since our last visit. Price was $8.99 for sliders and salad bar. We think over priced by a buck or two. Restaurant about 20% full when we were there.

September 22, 2009 on Denny’s Restaurant 4.754.754.754.754.75

Went for a last miunte breakfast today. The food was served fast and hot. Service was awesome from our waitress, Bobbie. All in all, tough to beat.

September 19, 2009 on Jimmy John’s 3.253.253.253.253.25

Update on my first review…we got a platter of subs for about 8 people. It contained 15 pieces of subs. I have to say the subs were not very spectacular or remarkable in any way except for a general lack of ingredients. Just a lot of bread, and we like their bread and not much else. The help was very nice though and the place was very clean at early dinner time. I think I remember more ingredients being in the sub previously. Hard to guess but if I had to, I would say about 90% sub roll and 10% ingredients. Their subs start at about $4.75 and are 8″ compared to Subways $5 footlongs. I would say Subways are about 3-4 times the food.

September 19, 2009 on Olive Garden Italian Restaurant 55555

Enjoyed an early dinner here last Thursday and by early, we were the last ones seated before the wait started. We all got the endless pasta bowls and they were delicious. They come with endless salad and breadsticks too. The endless pasta enables you to pick from many different shapes of pasta and about 6 different kinds of sauces. I had the Florentine and a refill of the same. Our server was Penny and she was superb. She had three tables in her section and two got seated with a group of boisterous college girls who kept her running. Still, she kept up with all of them and us with no problem. We can’t wait to go back!

September 11, 2009 on Crazy Buffet VariAsian 55555

Went there for lunch today. Place was about 1/2 full with upscale type diners. Buffet selection was extensive. Sushi was being prepared by two sushi chefs. All in all a great deal for about 10 bucks. Service was from an Asian girl with a friendly demeanor and quick service. All in all a great experience.

August 20, 2009 on Stonewood Grill and Tavern 4.54.54.54.54.5

I recently had an opportunity to dine here again with some friends so this is an update on my previous post. I would say this time was a much better experience. Maybe it is because of the economy and many restaurants competing for guests, I honestly don’t know. Anyway, great service, food was great too. I got a steak and it was a great piece of beef prepared properly. Our table was happy. A big improvement over my last visit that needed to be recognized. Thanks.

August 9, 2009 on Brusters 3.753.753.753.753.75

Man when it comes to ice cream, these folks know what they are doing! They have a blueberry cheesecake that will knock your socks off. The kids working there are all very nice too. Seating outside, nothing inside. A bit on the expensive side so I don’t go there as much as I would like.

August 7, 2009 on Crazy Buffet Restaurant 3.753.753.753.753.75

Well we were so impressed witht the food last time, we stopped in on July 30th for lunch. This time our service was a little better but the sushi selection was not quite as good. We came in after the lunch hour and they close between lunch and dinner service during the week so we were getting near after lunch closing time. Anyway, the sushi chef was letting the sushi boards go low to keep everything fresh. I love their tuna nigiri and the board was empty. I made a friendly gesture to the chef about the empty board and he immediately made me some rolls and actually placed them right on my plate. We did this several times during our meal. We have a language barrier but pointing seems to work. He was very friendly but I swear I have no idea what he was saying. PS, nothing to do with the review but we were in the area for a new addition to the family. Welcome Evan Scott!

July 19, 2009 on Crazy Buffet Restaurant 3.253.253.253.253.25

Greeted by a friendly host and an automated player piano adjacent to an impressive coi pond, our lunch today was superb. Extensive sushi selection, hibachi chef cooking on demand and a food buffet that spoke of quality and selection, this was an experience that turned out to be very pleasant. The sushi was delicious. I also had a small hibachi steak which was quite good. The atmosphere was relaxed and guests seemed to be enjoying themselves. The only thing that marred an otherwise great experience was extremely poor service. Our waiter was not seen nearly enough. Our drinks were constantly dry and we gave up waiting for him to remove our used plates and make space for our clean ones. Other than that, we had a great time. Also, I think the price was reasonable at about $16 each. Remember this was lunch not dinner. Dinner I think is about $22.

July 3, 2009 on Mcdonald’s Restaurants - Buford 3.253.253.253.253.25

Update on my previous review. Today is almost a month later. I am having breakfast and the hash browns were freshly cooked and my sausage biscuit was a bit dry but otherwise fine. Here is the problem today though… Classical music is blaring everywhere in the restaurant. I am sure it is driving everyone out the door as soon as they order. In fact, I see no other people in sight except for one gentelman with a red cap and white shirt that just took a bag out the door to his truck. I also see an employee whose name starts with an “A”. She is cleaning all around me very thoroughly. Problem is, she is crawling around on top of chairs and tables to reach pictures, windows, etc. No ladder, etc. She just climbed on top of the table and stood on it right beside me! The good news is she hasnn’t broken her neck yet and she smiles nicely although I am not sure if she understands enlish. Please, please get her a step ladder or something for safety. I might worry about her every morning cleaning on tables from now on:-)

June 27, 2009 on Down the Hatch Seafood Restaurant 2.52.52.52.52.5

Not as good as it used to be. Expensive and just not great seafood like it once was. Maybe they will get on the stick and work to bring it back to it’s original greatness. I sure hope so. Pretty area though.

June 27, 2009 on Denny’s Restaurant 4.254.254.254.254.25

Hard to beat their Grand Slam specials and the idea of getting breakfast anytime you want it. Of course, they have plenty of selection but again, for me, I really think of them for breakfast type food.

June 27, 2009 on Woody’s Bar-B-Q 4.754.754.754.754.75

Consistently great food served by folks who work very hard to make sure you are happy.

June 22, 2009 on Longhorn Steakhouse 55555

We just had the opportunity to eat here again and I felt like I needed to update my review. First of all, we had Shelly for our server. She could not have been nicer, more professional or generally, just a plain delight. Her service was awesome and our food was top notch. I have written before about the chicken fingers being a bit overpriced in my opinion, but for steaks and most of the other items, I think Longhorn pricing offers a pretty good value. They also have great chicken fingers and it is my understanding that they hand cut them fresh…not shipped in frozen, so they are superior to most. Anyway, our steaks were perfectly prepared and delicious and offered good value. Charles, a manager there, stopped by and said hi and made sure we were happy and had everything we needed. All in all, a first rate experience in every sense of the word. Stop in, you will enjoy it!

June 21, 2009 on Giuseppe’s Original Pizza 33333

We went there last night for some pizza and greek salad. We had white pizza with half mushrooms. It was a ten. We also had the large greek salad and it was also delicious. Servings were large and we ended up bringing some of each home. Had a bit of an accident though…the pizza was served on an aluminum pizza pan on top of a pizza pedestal. We went to get our second piece and the pizza went flying to the floor. It just missed my friend in the next booth. He quickly picked it up. Later our waitress came and collected the tray. She left the rest of the mess on the floor. She did not seem to be having a good night. We felt as if we were an inconvenience to her. Our drinks were empty before finally getting refills and she was just generally grumpy. The cashier was a joy and they replaced our pizza at no charge. Food a 10, service, the worst I have had in some time.

June 16, 2009 on Applebee’s 4.754.754.754.754.75

This truly is a great place for folks to come and hang out, have a great meal or simply visit the bar and order a meal or simple pub style food. It has been a great consistent top performer in terms of management food quality and service. Some of the staff have been there many years and almost all really seem to enjoy their job. This location is relatively close to I-95 so if you are on the interstate and hungry for some great food served quickly, stop in and check out this Applebees. You won’t be disappointed.

June 15, 2009 on Longhorn Steakhouse 4.754.754.754.754.75

I have eaten at this Longhorn once and the experience was very good. Our food was properly prepared and ready for us in a reasonable amount of time. The restaurant was fairly busy when we were there but we did not have to wait for a table. Our server was Brandon. He could not have been friendlier, more professional or more accomodating. He was very fast with his service and made numerous trips back to our table to see how our meal was going and to keep our drinks refreshed. He did it all with a smile. He shared with us that he was a student at USF and had worked at other Longhorn locations including Daytona Beach and one in Cumming, GA. The cholocate stampede rocks but be prepared to share with everyone at the table and also you are going to have to work it off. It must have 10,000 calories (but well worth it:-)

June 14, 2009 on Larry’s Giant Subs 2.52.52.52.52.5

The subs here are just plain bland. No matter what you put on them, they just taste like they need more.

June 14, 2009 on Krystal Company 33333

This is an iconic Krystal for the db area. There used to be one on the beachside too just south of main street that was also an area favorite but it is long gone. Anyway, when the buns are fresh and everything is hot off the grill, nothing is like one of these burgers. You have to watch the fries here…they tend to rush them and they come out a bit soggy and partially raw. Fries are supposed to be crispy as everyone knows. All in all a pretty good experience. Busy intersection and dangerous for traffic there so be careful!

June 14, 2009 on Julian’s Dining Room and Lounge 1.51.51.51.51.5

Julians used to be the number one place to go in the old days for upscale dining. Lately, not so much. The food is only average and service is fair to poor. No real reason to go here unless it is just an old family tradition or something.

June 11, 2009 on Garden Buffet 4.754.754.754.754.75

This is one of my favorite chinese style buffets and represents a good value too. I particularly love the sushi station here. In the place of the old Ryans, they have plenty of room here to do things right. They usually have at least one sushi chef and sometimes two when it is busier. They have a sushi display area that is about 15 feet long and is like a counter but is filled with ice. The sushi chef will make rolls of sushi, place each kind on its own serving board, then place the boards on the ice. Very nice presentation. They will also try to make you just about any type you can think of. Beside the sushi station is the hibachi station. Here there are many types of meats, shrimp and veggies on display. You select what you want then give the ingredients to the hibachi chef and he prepares your meal just the way you want it. They also have the traditional style setup like you would expect from this type of buffet. The service is usually very good. Try it and I believe you will be impressed.

June 10, 2009 on Cardamuro’s Italian Cafe 55555

My wife and I love the pizza here. You can just tell that it is made with love and care. We especially love the white pizza and the mushroom pizza. The mushroom pizza reminds us of the Valentine’s evening in Ponce Inlet, Florida when I proposed to my bride in the full moonlight on the sandy beach. All I could afford was a rather small diamond at the time but the brightness of the moonlight that night made it look like a million bucks:-) This place is a local favorite located in the Publix shopping center so very convenient. The owner is authentice, old world Italian and is awesomely talented and friendly. Be sure to talk with him, you will love his accent…it will take you right to the shores of Italy.

June 6, 2009 on Donleon’s Deli Cafe 4.754.754.754.754.75

Awesome sandwiches…the pastrami will rock your world. They know how to do it right. Big servings and nice folks too. You will enjoy this place. They are open seasonally.

June 6, 2009 on Ruby Tuesday Restaurants 3.753.753.753.753.75

Their awesome salad bar rocks at this location, although sometimes it has been a bit slow to refill after a protracted lunch rush. I like the food and service at this location.

Great pizza and subs!

June 6, 2009 on Cracker Barrel Old Country Store 2.52.52.52.52.5

Went for breakfast today and have to say the experience was unusual for this location. We had four in our party and met there at 9am. Crowded but the hostess greeted us warmly and had us seated with no waiting. Then things went south. We sat for about 10 minutes before our waitress finally showed up. There were waitresses running all around us, but not ours. We put in our food and drink order at the same time because of course after such a long wait we all knew exactly what we wanted. Two of us ordered the grilled sourdough egg sandwiches. Usually they are great but today they were served on greasy raw bread that should not have been served. Those went back to the kitchen after our waitress finally showed up to check on us (she didn’t deliver the food, a food runner did). She agreed they were nasty. Anyway, more waiting then voila, a manager brought them back. Same egg, same tomato, same mayonaise…just on bread they had managed to grill this time. A little freaky to be honest. Some of us also had buscuits and although they are usually light and fluffy and baked properly, today they were burnt on top. Drinks went wanting for refills again our waitress no where in sight. Other waitresses did notice our lousy service and asked if they could get us drinks. This was not a typical experience here but reviewing is what this site is all about.

June 5, 2009 on Spruce Creek Pizza & Restaurant 44444

I like the pizza here. They have a friendly staff too. This is a favorite with the locals and has been for decades.

Great for no fuss chinese take out food. Call ahead for best service.

June 5, 2009 on First Turn Lounge 4.54.54.54.54.5

Mostly a bar with bar type food. They have an inside bar area and an outside bar area too. Sometimes the atmosphere is better than others but that has a lot to do with the crowd at a particular time. I have a friend I have known for over 30 years who works there as a bartender named Dave. If you go there, please look him up and let him know Mark said hi. He just might make your drink a little better…:-)

June 5, 2009 on Flapjacks and More 4.54.54.54.54.5

Crowded breakfast place and a favorite with the local crowd. They do know how to do breakfast just fine. I am only rating the breakfast because that is all I have had. Friendly service too.

June 5, 2009 on Chick Fil A Of Dunlawton 4.754.754.754.754.75

This location is in the Lowes, Target parking lot. It is very popular and is just off I-95 so gets a good mix of locals and tourists too. They have a great staff and prepare their food with care. I was actually at the grand opening of this store about 4 years ago and met S. Truett Cathy, the founder of the company. He gave me one of his books and autographed it for me. The funny thing was that the place was packed and they had a mob behind the counter too. He was just in a service line milling around like everyone else and the employees didn’t seem to have a clue who he was. He made me promise to read his book. I did and it was very good. He and his team have certainly built an enviable company on so many levels.

June 5, 2009 on Joy Luck I 4.754.754.754.754.75

I ate dinner here tonight and got here a bit late at 9pm. The dinner crowd was long gone but the buffet was pretty well stocked. They close at 10pm on Friday nights. The hostess was very nice as was our waiter. What impressed me the most was the attentiveness of the sushi chef. He had about 6 different kinds of sushi out ready but I asked him to make more of one and he did so with a smile. Our waiter actually came by our table and asked if we would like any special sushi made. I asked for a callfornia roll with cream cheese and tuna wrapped around the outside. He told the sushi chef and soon, here came a plate delivered right to our table. Delicious and like I said, they just could not have been nicer.

June 5, 2009 on Ruby Tuesday 3.53.53.53.53.5

I love their salad bar here. It has everything you could want to make a great salad. The service at this location has been just average for me. I have had better. Really all you need is your drinks filled, food brought attentively and the check so that you don’t have to wait for it and you are good. The salad bar is king here. If they ever lost the salad bar, they might as well close the doors because almost no one does it better in chains.

June 4, 2009 on Wendy’s Old Fashion Hamburgers 1.51.51.51.51.5

Nope. No english speaking people to wait on me when I was there. I thought I was in another country or some type of hidden camera show. I won’t be back here. I don’t mind the spanish, just have someone who can take my order in enlish please.

June 4, 2009 on Taco Bell 2.752.752.752.752.75

This can be a very busy location. Food is ok but order can often be done incorrectly. Service is friendly but this location often looks like it needs a good cleaning. Trash is usually everywhere and quite unappetising. I have taken their goofy polls before and mentioned these things but it made no difference.

June 4, 2009 on Summits Wayside Tavern 33333

This seems more like a bar that also serves bar type food. Lots of beer brands and they even have a beer club where you can try every beer they have and gain some recognition. Food to me is average.

June 4, 2009 on Steak N Shake-Division Office 3.753.753.753.753.75

Good steak and shake. Friendly and attentive staff serving food prepared properly. The shakes are great and the burgers dry but tasty with the right stuff on them. Skinny fries can also hit the spot when you are in the mood.

June 4, 2009 on Spondivits 3.253.253.253.253.25

Funny name but is a favorite hang out for the locals who want some seafood. They also have a full bar and a really laid back almost keys type atmosphere. I hate the parking here. It is tight and they want to valet park you…just can be a royal pain. Food is a bit expensive for the portion size.

June 4, 2009 on Rooster’s Cafe 3.753.753.753.753.75

Want wings and beer in a place where all the locals go? This is it! They also have sandwiches and cheesteaks and some special fries.

June 4, 2009 on Outback Steakhouse 2.752.752.752.752.75

Tried this location several times and finally gave up on it. The steaks were either tough or not cooked as ordered. Service is fair to poor. With one of the best Longhorns right down the street, I just go there when I want a great steak and experience. Maybe it will be different for you but the truth is, I think they know they have a problem at this location.

June 4, 2009 on O’Charley’s 3.53.53.53.53.5

I think their claim to fame, at least according to all the airplay I hear, is their rolls. They are tasty but not the main course. Overall I think their food and service is about average. Nothing special in my opinion.

June 4, 2009 on Ninja Steakhouse 4.254.254.254.254.25

Traditional hibachi style cooking with the whole show right at your table. A bit much for a normal evening but perfect for something special. They also do takeout. I enjoyed the food and the show here for a recent birthday of a friend.

June 4, 2009 on Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers 4.54.54.54.54.5

Kyle runs a great pizza place here and Mellow Mushroom has some flavors of pizza you just wont find anywhere else. Fun, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. They also do some flavorful pretzel type things that I highly recommend.

June 4, 2009 on IHOP 4.254.254.254.254.25

IHOP done right. These folks do a great job and the whole town knows it. They are always busy for breakfast and the service is good and the food is fast and tasty. I enjoy their spinach omelette and they really do know how to do pancakes the right way.

June 4, 2009 on Chili’s Grill and Bar 3.253.253.253.253.25

This is a busy Chili’s. They pull in a good crowd. Food is tasty and the service ranges from fairly poor to pretty good. Brusters ice cream is right next door if you save room:-)

June 4, 2009 on Lighthouse Cafe 4.754.754.754.754.75

Great place to have breakfast. It is where all the locals go and all the tourists end up here too. Take a walk afterwards and enjoy the island scenery. It will be memorable:-)

June 4, 2009 on Dairy Queen of Sanibel 4.754.754.754.754.75

What can you say? Everyone who is on vacation ends up at this DQ. Totally laid back and a great place to have a cool treat and kick it back on vacation with the sand in your toes.

June 4, 2009 on Mucky Duck 4.754.754.754.754.75

The Mucky Duck is a little hole in the wall place that you just have to visit if you are in the area. I had fried shrimp that were incredibly delicious and would you believe the size of hot dogs? Casual, laid back and definately cool, this place has a great atmosphere like the islands and it just has a way of taking you away from the stress of life. You will love it.

June 4, 2009 on Chadwick’s 4.54.54.54.54.5

Upscale dining raises the bar for food and service. You will be impressed.

June 4, 2009 on Mcdonald’s Restaurants - Buford 44444

Mostly fun and attentive staff and the food is typical fare. Usually pretty clean dining room and there is an outside play area for the kids.

June 4, 2009 on Subway 11111

I have had a couple of bad experiences with this location and I won’t go into details but suffice to say, I hope it was just a fluke thing…not the way they normally do business. Regardless, I will never eat here again but your experience may be different.

June 4, 2009 on The Derby 44444

Neighborhood bar and casual family dining restaurant. The bar is completely separated from the main dining area by glass so it is still visible to diners. The food is good and the service is very friendly. They make a great cheeseteak sub and their homemade chips are delicious. Great little family place.

June 4, 2009 on Hampton Inn Tifton 3.753.753.753.753.75

Very nice experience at this location particularly in this part of south Georgia.

June 4, 2009 on Chick Fil-A 4.754.754.754.754.75

This Chick fil a is one of my favorites. It is a popular stopping place for locals and many travelers since it is an ez on/off from I-75. Their food is always good, the service is excellent and everyone is extremely friendly. We have stopped in on our way back and forth between Atlanta and Florida and one of the employees, April, actually remembered us AND believe it or not, what we had ordered a week before! There is also a very nice lady who keeps the dining room spotless and offers to “refresh” your drinks if you like. Stop in if you are going by this location.

June 1, 2009 on Arby’s 3.53.53.53.53.5

This Arby’s seems to be pretty average for the chain. It can be busy during times when the bikers are in town. Mostly though, the help is good and the food is typical Arby’s. I like their roast beef sandwich or beef and chedder the best.

June 1, 2009 on Waffle House 3.753.753.753.753.75

Almost nobody does an omelette like these folks. We have had good luck at this location with service and food quality. It can be busy during special event times like races or bike weeks so be prepared. Don’t forget their hashbrowns too. I like the way they shout out your order to the cook, but still dont understand their terminology for hash browns…smothered, covered, blah, blah, blah…it’s all like and alien language to me.

June 1, 2009 on The Oyster Pub 2.252.252.252.252.25

Local watering hole popular with tourists and locals too. Mostly like a sports bar with that type of food. I would call the food average for a place like this..nothing really memorable. Service has ranged from good to poor.

June 1, 2009 on Steve’s Famous Diner 3.53.53.53.53.5

Located on the beachside, this place can be really busy at times. Mostly home style cooking, friendly staff and great homemade bread I believe is served with every meal.

June 1, 2009 on Steak & Shake 33333

Great shakes and the food is typical for this chain. I like their burgers but feel they are really dry…not moist and juicy so I have to be in the mood for them. The fries are shoestring type and are pretty good.

June 1, 2009 on Sbarro Italian Eatery 3.753.753.753.753.75

Volusia mall location located in the food court, this sbaro serves great subs and pieces of pizza. The servings of pizza are huge and delicious. You will have to walk the mall after your meal if you are concerned about your waistline:-)

June 1, 2009 on Sapporo Japanese Steak-House 3.253.253.253.253.25

Old school japanese steak house with sushi bar too, this is a favorite among locals but don’t be surprised to see some tourists here too. The food is good. My complaint here has to do with the ventilation system. My clothes always smell greasy and smoking when I leave so, I would invest in some smoke eaters or other air purification system if they wanted to take this place to the next level. I want to eat their food, not wear it.

June 1, 2009 on Ruby Tuesday Restaurant 3.753.753.753.753.75

Right across from the speedway, this location can be busy at times. Mostly college kids serving tables and some are better than others. For me, I love their salad bar and when they keep up on it, it offers a wide variety of options. Their main entres to me are more average.

June 1, 2009 on Red Lobster 2.52.52.52.52.5

For me, this location is not as good as the one in Daytona Beach Shores but is busy due to its location just off I95 coming into Daytona Beach. Food quality has been average but the service at this location always leaves something to be desired. This location needs some work to get it up to the best a RL can be.

June 1, 2009 on Mcdonald’s 3.753.753.753.753.75

This can be a fairly busy location but regardless, the order is usually right and the food is prepared the way you expect. Nice folks too.

June 1, 2009 on Long John Silver’s Seafood Shoppe 3.53.53.53.53.5

For me, there is something about being able to get chicken and fried fish all in the same order that has some appeal to it. When done properly, their fish planks and chicken planks are very good. The fries I can do without. Service is good at this location.

June 1, 2009 on Heavenly Ham 3.53.53.53.53.5

Mostly hams and turkeys to go but they are expanding their take out offerings and do a great job with their core products. Friendly service. Remember to order your ham or turkey early during holiday season to avoid disappointment. They also have a good box style lunch centered around a ham or turkey sandwich and though not cheap, still pretty enjoyable.

June 1, 2009 on Great Wraps 3.53.53.53.53.5

I think this location is about 5 years old or so. It is located in a little strip mall. Mostly I have had good results here with food that was served properly and service that was fast and friendly.

June 1, 2009 on Checkers Drive Thru Restaurant 3.253.253.253.253.25

We have had good luck at this location. It amazes me how they can run two drive thrus and still manage to cook and serve from such a small box footprint. The staff here seems to care about what they are doing.

June 1, 2009 on Burger King 2.752.752.752.752.75

Spotty food and service quality for me at this location. Hit or miss, you just don’t know in advance what you are going to get. There is room for improvement here.

June 1, 2009 on Flip Flops Grill and Chill 3.753.753.753.753.75

This location is the old Shells and has been made famous by the show Hell’s Kitchen. One of the chef’s here, Danny Veltri, competed and won the show in the spring season of the show 2009. We had a chance to meet Danny and some of the other contestants here before the winner was announced. They had big screens set up everywhere and even in the parking lot and the place was very croweded with fans of Danny and the show. The food that night was flying out of the kitchen and we only had drinks and a couple of appetizers but from what we could see and hear, people were enjoying their food and the evening. The menu offers some unusual entres for the area and is seafood centric. Nice, friendly folks using some imagination to offer something a little different. Congratulations Danny and all. We are fans of the show and enjoyed it immensely this season.

June 1, 2009 on Norwood’s Restaurant & Wine Shop 3.253.253.253.253.25

Norwoods is a NSB tradition for decades and is famous for its seafood. A nice relaxed atmosphere and good wine collection in a setting that speaks of old world class, Norwoods is popular with snow birds and the older locals.

May 31, 2009 on Longhorn Steakhouse 4.254.254.254.254.25

The best Longhorn I have been in to date. Great food, awesome management and service. This is Longhorn at its best. I think LH prices are getting to be a bit much however. 12 bucks for some chicken fingers is stretching it a bit.

May 31, 2009 on Lenny’s Sub Shops 33333

For me, Lenny’s just doesn’t do a great sub. I don’t know why. I mean they slice the meat in front of you. They put the toppings on that you want. It just always tastes flat to me and seems expensive especially for what I can get a subway for right down the street. The service does seem good though.

May 31, 2009 on Chick-Fil-A Inc 4.254.254.254.254.25

Consistently superior staff and food.

May 31, 2009 on Bruster’s of Cumming 44444

They have awesome ice cream…not cheap but really delicious. It is all outside, no inside dining. Prepare to wait on busy nights.

May 31, 2009 on Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream & Dunkin Donuts 1.251.251.251.251.25

The donuts have been stale when I have been there and I have not tried the ice cream. I am not impressed with this location and not clean either.

May 31, 2009 on Austin’s Steaks and Seafood 33333

Located next to Applebees, they try to offer a great steak experience and value. The problem is consistency. Sometimes food and service are great other times, not so great.

May 31, 2009 on Atlanta Bread Company 4.254.254.254.254.25

This is a good AB but to me, not quite as good as most Panera Breads. They do have wifi that is nice so can be a good place to hang out. Friendly service.

May 31, 2009 on Arby’s Roast Beef 33333

This location seems to be hit or miss. Sometimes pretty well made, other times, it feels like the staff could not care any less. Not a fan of this location.

May 31, 2009 on Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar 3.53.53.53.53.5

I think the food here is a pretty good representation of Applebees food. This is a popular location and they have a friendly staff too with good service.

May 31, 2009 on Zaxby’s 3.753.753.753.753.75

Chicken oriented dishes done a variety of ways and very tasty. I like their fries too…the real deal. This location has been consistently top notch for me.

May 31, 2009 on Third Coast Grille 2.52.52.52.52.5

Decent food, a bit on the expensive side IMO but can be a fun place. Close to the lake and trying to cash in on the Lake Lanier croud. You can sit outside too and lots of folks like to do that.

May 31, 2009 on Ted’s Montana Grill Inc 2.252.252.252.252.25

I had the bison burger here and thought is was dry, overpriced and pretty sorry. Our order for our table of four was also quite a challenge for our waiter to get right. For me, this place is disappointing and expensive.

May 31, 2009 on Taxco Mexican Restaurant 3.753.753.753.753.75

Great mexican food with authentic mexican style service.

May 31, 2009 on Skelly’s Bar & Grill 3.753.753.753.753.75

Popular watering hole with the typical bar and sandwich scene.

May 31, 2009 on Red Lobster Restaurants 3.753.753.753.753.75

Awesome Red Lobster! Great food and fun service. If you like RL, you will love this one. I do miss a special grilled scallop summer meal they had on the menu two summers ago. I wrote to corporate asking them to keep it but they really didn’t seem to care and got rid of it anyway.

May 31, 2009 on Pizza Hut - Buford 3.53.53.53.53.5

They have the usual pizza hut food and they have a lunch buffet that is primarily pizza but salad bar too for a decent price. Pretty tasty when you are in the mood.

May 31, 2009 on P F Chang’s China Bistro 3.753.753.753.753.75

This place rocks. We love the lettuce wraps with chicken and also their mongolian beef. They also have a mandarin orange tea that is tasty. We have had great service at times and at others just plain poor.

May 31, 2009 on Olive Garden Italian Restaurant 3.753.753.753.753.75

Olive Garden knows how to do it right and this is a great example of one of their best. The food always good but the service has been disappointing a couple of times whether busy or not. Be prepared to wait on busy nights.

May 31, 2009 on El Porto II 3.53.53.53.53.5

Delicious traditional mexican style food served well.

May 31, 2009 on Krystal Company 3.53.53.53.53.5

When you have to have it, you have to have it. And when it’s great…it’s really great! Soft steamed buns, the onions, the mustard…there is nothing like a Krystal burger. This one is pretty good. Unless they have changed it, the drive up system does not see my F350, they said it was too high although the tires are stock. I like fries crispy and sometimes these are a bit soggy.

May 31, 2009 on Golden Corral Steaks Buffet & Bakery 3.53.53.53.53.5

Put the feedbag on at this place. Actually, pretty good food but you can really damage yourself if you aren’t careful. Their rolls are addicting:-) They also offer an omelette bar on the weekends that is fun but the line can be long at times.

May 31, 2009 on Dairy Queen 3.753.753.753.753.75

The ice cream treats I have had here have been delicious and the service good. I have also had their burgers a couple of times and can live without them. Just not appealing to me and its too bad. I used to love their brazier burgers. They were different than anyone elses and had good flavor. The fries also tasted mediocre to me. Stick with the ice cream stuff and you can’t go wrong. I am basing my review on the ice cream portion…not the grill stuff.

May 31, 2009 on Chuck E Cheese # 616 4.54.54.54.54.5

Fun place to take the kids to play games and eat pizza. They also have a video cameria setup that my little Kaylee and her friends loved. My ratings are for the kids…not adults so please take that into consideration.

May 31, 2009 on Sushi NAMI Japanese Restaurant 44444

I swear I have pulled into the parking lot here and smelled the ocean. The sushi is fresh here and the sushi chefs are lined up on the right side of the restaurant when you enter and there are usually 4-5 of them preparing sushi to order. Amazing quality. The also have a great combination style meal I have had for lunch that is shaped like a segmented wheel with a special sauce in the hub. It includes steak, chicken, shrimp and fried rice all in their little compartments. About 12 bucks and a steal. Not fancy and the service has ranged from excellent to pretty crappy but the food is where it’s at!

May 31, 2009 on Dixie Crossroads 3.753.753.753.753.75

Dixie Crossroads used to be THE place to go for rock shrimp. If you have never had them, they have a taste similar to lobster. They are usually eaten with drawn butter and can be a bit of a challenge to remove from their shells but once the technique is learned it is a rewarding cinche to do. Lately their prices seem to have risen more than most other area restaurants and I wonder if it is because of the price to run the shrimp boats… Anyway, they are pushing other types of shrimp like browns and they are good too but the rock shrimp is where its at. Casual style Florida style dining. Check it out.

May 31, 2009 on Mcdonald’s 3.253.253.253.253.25

This location has been a bit shaky over the years for me. Sometimes pretty good, sometimes not so good. Hit or miss. They do have an extremely friendly Indian lady who usually works at the pick up window who is always a “10″ with her service and attitude.

May 31, 2009 on Mcdonald’s 4.254.254.254.254.25

Had the dollar sausage biscuit and hashbrowns this morning for breakfast. So did my wife and youngest son. My son said to me out of the blue, “Pops you just can’t be Mcdonalds for fast breakfast”. I agree with him, no drama, just good food, fast. This location has a big indoor gym for kids but at the sacrifice of seating space. Very limited seating here seems almost freakish cmpared to most mcdonalds to me.

May 31, 2009 on Boston Market - Port Orange 11111

Found a womans fake fingernail in my food. Manager thought we put it in there and humiliated my wife and I in public. We will NEVER EVER frequent a boston market again.

May 31, 2009 on Booth’s Bowery Restaurant 2.52.52.52.52.5

I believe this restaurant recently changed hands but I might be wrong. It was pretty good for decades but now not so much. It just seem average to me and the service is spotty as well as the food the last few times I have been there. I think they need to recapture what they used to have because it was pretty good then and a favorite with the locals.

May 31, 2009 on Stavro’s Pizza House 4.754.754.754.754.75

Awesome pizzas and greek salads and they have been for decades. Not the cheapest but Chris and his crew do a great job and their pizza tastes the same now as it did decades ago. This is the real deal.

May 31, 2009 on Ritter’s Frozen Custard 33333

Cool treats to beat the heat…sit down and enjoy some frozen custard if you feel like something a bit different. Personally, I think they would have done better as a DQ or something for such a popular high traffic location but that’s just me. Frozen custard is frozen custard…not ice cream. Some people may prefer it but I am not one of them.

May 31, 2009 on Pizza Hut 33333

Typical pizza hut that is rather small for the area. It has been remodeled a time or two I think but nothing special. Can be really busy when the movies get out.

May 31, 2009 on Our Deck Down Under 3.753.753.753.753.75

This popular place is great for seafood in a casual setting. Sit on the deck and watch the boats go up the intracoastal waterway. You can also dine inside. This place can be crazy busy at times to be prepared.

May 31, 2009 on Manny’s Pizza House 4.254.254.254.254.25

Delicious pizza and super salads from a family who has been in the business for decades. They also serve popular italian dishes that I see people order and enjoy but I always go there when I am in the mood for their pizza.

May 31, 2009 on Larrys Giant Subs 3.253.253.253.253.25

For me, these subs just don’t measure up to the competition. They have their own way of doing things which is fine just doesn’t appeal to me as much as some of the others. That might just be my personal taste so give them a try and decide and review for yourself. That’s what Restaurant Zoom is all about anyway right?

May 31, 2009 on La Fiesta 4.54.54.54.54.5

Delicious mexican food served by an attentive staff under careful management. This restaurant can be busy at times and the lunch specials offer a great selection and a ton of variety. You will like it.

May 31, 2009 on Kentucky Fried Chicken 3.753.753.753.753.75

I have eaten here a few times and most recently enjoyed it very much for the new grilled chicken offering. Something really different for KFC. The recent Oprah promotion for a free grilled chicken seemed to backfire on KFC due to many of the restaurants not honoring the coupons or the website not working or whatever. Anyway, clean KFC with a friendly staff makes this one a joy to visit when you really want KFC!

May 31, 2009 on Jimmy John’s 4.254.254.254.254.25

Jimmy Johns serves a great sub that is unique to them but they have really taken a distant back seat to the $5 promotion at Subway. Regardless, this location is good and I was actually there opening day about 4 years ago. Nice crew and their subs are delicious and very flavorful. Give them a try if you haven’t yet and you might be suprised just how tasty a sub can be!

May 31, 2009 on Giuseppe’s Original Pizza 4.254.254.254.254.25

They call this “Steel City” pizza and it is usually quite good. It also helps to be a Steelers fan but they will take care of you no matter what. They also have the usual subs, cheesesteaks, fries and salads. A fun family style place and has been a favorite of locals for decades.

May 31, 2009 on Dustin’s Bar B-Q 4.54.54.54.54.5

This Dustins has great food and great service. They have a sandwich, fries and drink for around $6. I like the beef sandwich on their garlic bread especially if I order it rare. Believe it or not, it will be served rare and is really delicious that way. Their salad bar is about $3 with your meal and has plenty of variety. All in all, a great BBQ restaurant.

May 31, 2009 on Dairy Bar 44444

This is a little ice cream place located right on Dunlawton bridge. Counter service only. Perfect for that hot summer day. Simple stuff too like hot dogs.

May 29, 2009 on Brian’s Bar-B-Que Restaurant & Catering 4.54.54.54.54.5

Great local BBQ place that is like a Sonnys but a little better. Home style cooking, delicious food, super service and a relaxed environment all add up to a fun time you will enjoy.

May 29, 2009 on A J’S Club Bimini 4.54.54.54.54.5

This has got to be one of the most famous hang outs in Destin. Fun atmosphere and outside tiki style open air bar is hopping with locals and tourists at busy times. Great view of the boats in the harbor. I have never eaten food here…only libations and had a great time:-)

May 29, 2009 on Takeya Japanese Steak House 44444

Just what the name says. Upscale atmosphere and the food is good too. You will like it.

May 29, 2009 on Stonewood Grill and Tavern 2.752.752.752.752.75

Stonewood is supposed to represent upscale dining in a contemporary atmosphere. For me, it is just ok. Nothing special to write home about. The atmosphere is a little upscale depending on your definition but the food is mediocre at best.

May 29, 2009 on Steak & Shake 44444

As far as Steak and Shakes go, this one seems to be consistently cleaner and more upscale than most locations I have frequented.

May 29, 2009 on Pizza Hut 44444

This is your typical Pizza Hut with this location being about 35 years old.

May 29, 2009 on Panera Bread Ormond Beach 4.754.754.754.754.75

If you like Panera Bread, you will enjoy this location too. Upscale and free WIFI make this a popular destination for folks looking for some great light food and a hook-up (internet:-)

May 29, 2009 on Ormond Steakhouse 4.754.754.754.754.75

Like the one in Port Orange and in New Smyrna Beach, this steakhouse serves great food, realistically priced in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Service is good too. Looking for a great steak experience? You can find it here.

May 29, 2009 on Mr WICH Deli 4.754.754.754.754.75

WOW! This deli has created some of the best deli style sandwiches I have ever eaten. Their subs feature over a pound of meat I think and although they are not cheap, they are worth every penny. You have not lived until you have had their king sized combo or king sized turkey sub. Their pizza with everything on it can feed a family of four for a weekend and all of their food is delicious. I believe they have had the same owners for over 30 years. No dining inside, just take out or some tables outside. Highly recommended and super nice folks too.

May 29, 2009 on Hull’s Seafood Market 4.754.754.754.754.75

The freshest seafood around and usually a great selection of oysters too. Remember the months with “R” applies for most oysters harvested in Florida. Nice folks too.

May 29, 2009 on Cracker Barrel Old Country Store 44444

Average Cracker Barrel restaurant. If you like CB, you will probably be happy with this one.

May 29, 2009 on Billy’s Tap Room & Grill 11111

This place is a hole in the wall traditional dining type establishment. It is one of the oldest restaurants in the area I believe. Full of senior citizens and smells moldy to me. I personally think it is disgusting and would never attempt to eat there again.

May 29, 2009 on Winghouse of Daytona Beach 3.753.753.753.753.75

Popular wing place with a super friendly staff. Food is pretty good too. Hooters is just down the street and this place gives them a serious run for the money.

May 29, 2009 on Webbers Steak House 3.753.753.753.753.75

Great little steak place with a puny salad bar. The steak is the thing here and usually the value is great. Atmosphere is the impression of too many tables in too small a place. Parking can be a challenge too…one way parking lot with only one point of egress. Friendly staff.

May 29, 2009 on Taco Bell 11111

Old, dirty and nasty. Avoid this place until they do a complete makeover.

May 29, 2009 on Steve’s Famous Diner 3.753.753.753.753.75

Family homestyle meals with an italian flair. They make their own bread which is delicious with soft butter. Just about something for everyone. Service is usually pretty good too.

May 29, 2009 on Stavro’s Pizza House - the Original 3.53.53.53.53.5

Their grinders and pizza are delicious and they have been a mainstay of Daytona downtown for decades.

May 29, 2009 on Sorrento Deli Restaurant 3.753.753.753.753.75

Small deli that has been at this location for decades. They have good food and a family atmosphere too.

May 29, 2009 on Sly Fox Inn 2.52.52.52.52.5

I think this english style pub could be better. Food is not consistent and neither is service when I have gone. The theme is good, the execution is lacking. My hope is that they will improve because I feel they really have potential to offer something a bit different in the market.

May 29, 2009 on Red Lobster 4.754.754.754.754.75

Great Red Lobster location with food prepared correctly and a staff that strives to satisfy especially during the busy tourist times. Management is strong at this location and it shows bigtime. Enjoy your meal then cross A1A and walk the beach. Can be busy during summer tourist times. Fun location and one that corporate can be proud of. You will enjoy it.

May 29, 2009 on Pizza Hut 33333

Right in the heart of the Daytona beachside action, this location has been turning out pizzas for something like 30 years. For me, it is a typical Pizza Hut.

May 29, 2009 on Pagano’s Pizzeria 44444

Small place with great italian food and pizza. A favorite among the locals. Service is usually pretty good too.

May 29, 2009 on Outback Steakhouse 3.253.253.253.253.25

Fairly typical Outback but sometimes very busy due to tourists in town. They have a great happy hour that was a favorite of Mom’s. The filet is always tender and juicy. Service can be a bit spotty but if you go during happy hour you may not even mind!

May 29, 2009 on Olive Garden Italian Restaurant 4.754.754.754.754.75

This is a fairly busy Olive Garden especially during peak tourist times. It is near the speedway so gets lots of traffic when fans are in town. Food is always good and the service is good too. We had Mom’s 80th birthday here and pictures prove that she and everyone had a fun time:-)

May 29, 2009 on Louie’s Pizza House 3.753.753.753.753.75

Good italian food and pizza served in a modest environment. Serves mostly the local community.

May 29, 2009 on Longhorn Steakhouse 33333

I have had some great food and fun times at this Longhorn location. Once, the party I was with ordered me a special libation as a special treat. It came in a special serving container so you could refill your own beverage. The waiter cautioned me as he was leaving it that I needed to hold the lid on while pouring from it or an accident could happen. He was very funny about it. Well sure enough, I went to pour some more a bit later in our service and the lid popped off and the drink went all over the table. The waiter, Brandon, was servicing a table adjacent to ours and came flying over with a rag. We were all laughing and my friends and I thought it was hysterical. Brandon made some very funny faces and his light hearted and friendly demeanor made the evening even more fun. We had an awesome time!

May 29, 2009 on Hooters of Daytona Beach 33333

Typical Hooters with a strong racing type atmosphere since they are located across from the speedway.

May 29, 2009 on Hog Heaven Bar-B-Q 44444

Located just north of Main Street on A1A, this place has been serving great BBQ for decades. Can be very busy during peak tourist times. Located right by the Ocean Center.

May 29, 2009 on Genovese’s Italian Cafe 2.752.752.752.752.75

Sometimes pretty good, other times fairly aweful. My experiences have left me less than impressed. I think they mostly do a tourist business but I could be wrong about this.

May 29, 2009 on Gene’s Steak House 2.52.52.52.52.5

This steak house has been in Daytona decades and is a favorite among locals and NASCAR folks when they are in town. For me, it is pricy and the service has been average to spotty. The steaks are average and the atmosphere is stale feeling.

May 29, 2009 on Firehouse Subs 4.254.254.254.254.25

I believe this used to be a pizza htt location back in the day. Subs are tasty and the service is good. Firehouse is a relatively new franchise offering from a company in Jacksonville, FL.

May 29, 2009 on Domino’s Pizza 33333

This Dominos serves central mainland Daytona witht the usual pizza oriented menu. For me, this location is mostly average..nothing too exciting.

May 29, 2009 on Cracker Barrel Old Country Store 4.754.754.754.754.75

Great food done the Cracker Barrel way served by people who care about what they are doing. Management is awesome at this location. This location is a great example of a top notch Cracker Barrel. Be prepared to wait at breakfast times during race events or bike week. It is located very near the speedway.

May 29, 2009 on Cow Licks Inc 44444

Little ice cream shop on the beachside that is perfect when you are walking along A1A and need a cool treat.

May 29, 2009 on China Buffet 33333

Large place and typical chinese style buffet. Nothing really special here except its shear size. Sometimes the food is better than others.

May 29, 2009 on Chick-Fil-A 4.254.254.254.254.25

Great chicken and service done only the way Chik Fil A can do it. They are closed on Sundays and located in the food court of Volusia Mall which is near the speedway.

May 29, 2009 on Checker’s Drive Thru 3.753.753.753.753.75

Across from the Daytona International Speedway, if you need fast food and are in the area, this is a good as any. Usually fast and courteous.

May 29, 2009 on Chart House 4.254.254.254.254.25

Delicious food, average to great service and prices that reflect catering to an upscale clientele. Awesome salad bar and some good seats overlooking the Halifax Marina. Fun to eat here then walk off your meal looking at the boats. I would call this fancy for mostly casual Daytona.

May 29, 2009 on Carrabba’s Italian Grill 4.54.54.54.54.5

Delicious italian food in a great atmosphere, this place features cooks who know what they are doing and an owner who is cognizant of every detail. It can be busy during peak times and is located across the street from the speedway in a larger strip shopping center. I would also say very good consistency. You can also eat where the cooks work and watch everything they do.

May 29, 2009 on Caribbean Jack’s Restaurant & Marina 3.253.253.253.253.25

Fun place right on the Halifaz river that is a small marina too. Very nautical and sometimes it is really hopping. Parking is limited during the busier times so you may to valet or walk further than you would like. You can eat outside too on the deck. I have had mixed results here.

May 29, 2009 on Buca Di Beppo 33333

Known for large portions of italian food served family style. For example, an order of something like pasta will usually serve 4 people. For me, the food is just average and the service is spotty. The decor is somewhat annoying in that each table tries to be substantially different than the next…a feeling of segmenting or something.

May 29, 2009 on B & B Fisheries 3.253.253.253.253.25

Fresh seafood mostly served in a quaint atmosphere. Nothing fancy here…just good simple seafood like fried shrimp, etc. They also have good box dinners/lunches to take to the beach, etc., with the usual like fried shrimp, fries and hush puppies.

May 29, 2009 on Aunt Catfish’s On the River 44444

This restaurant is a longtime favorite of locals and tourists too. It is located at the base of the Dunlawton bridge on the mainland side. They feature traditional Florida style seafood and other dishes like steak, etc. You can sometimes get a great view of the Halifax river but don’t count on it. Plan on a line in the summer season for dinner most nights. I think they have had the same ownership for decades.

May 29, 2009 on Dustin’s Bar B-Q 44444

They do a good job with barbeque and have a pretty extensive salad bar too. Usually friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. I personally like Sonny’s garlic bread better…it is more flavorful.

May 28, 2009 on Longhorn Steakhouse 4.54.54.54.54.5

This is a great example of a well run Longhorn. If you like Longhorn, you will love this location too.

May 28, 2009 on IHOP 55555

Always good food and friendly service any time of day. Love to eat here.

May 28, 2009 on Dockside Grill 44444

This is located at Holiday Marina and is accessible by boat or land. Casual lakeside dining inside or out on the deck. Sometimes live entertainment like a one man band sort of thing. Mostly simple fun food like burgers, wings, sandwiches and cold beer. Definately plenty to see and always something to see. Nice folks too. A little expensive but you have to take into consideration the Lake Lanier location.

May 28, 2009 on Kaya Grill and Sushi 55555

Great sushi, japanese hibachi style cooking and an upscale atmosphere. The staff is attentive and the management is superior. Be sure to try the Cumming roll. It is delicious. I believe they still offer an “all you can eat” menu where you pay one price and can order anything you want from the special menu which as far as I can tell, features just about everything the regular menu offers except for filet. You just keep ordering and they keep preparing it for you and bringing it to your table. Fantastic!

May 28, 2009 on Giorgio’s Italian Restaurant & Pizza 55555

Authentic Italian owners and food. They have great pizza too and usually run a buy one get one free deal on take out pizza. Nice folks too.

May 28, 2009 on Pub 44 4.54.54.54.54.5

This is a great biker and race oriented restaurant. They have a bar area, outside patio area and several dining areas. You will see families here as well as all types of locals. During bike week or race weeks, expect to see that kind of crowd. Always fun food and a good time. They have awesome nachos and a great local fried fish deal that rocks. Fun place!

May 28, 2009 on Pappas Drive-In & Family Restaurant 4.254.254.254.254.25

This place is a favorite local diner and has been for decades. They have what they call “the famous burger” and it has basically remained the same for decades except there are now seeds on the bun. Their food is always pretty good and service is friendly and fast.

May 28, 2009 on Merk’s Bar and Grill 4.754.754.754.754.75

Local watering hole is a favorite with the locals and tourists who know the inside track.

May 28, 2009 on Dairy Queen of New Smyrna 4.54.54.54.54.5

Fun crew and the perfect treat especially on those hot summer days. Its fun to sit outside under an umbrella and watch the cars go bye and simply enjoy the atmosphere of New Smyrna Beach.

May 28, 2009 on Blackbeards Inn 4.754.754.754.754.75

I have been eating here for decades. They have fresh seafood and delicious steaks. Also a separate oyster bar/lounge. A favorite with the locals. A small but delcious salad bar with their famous manhattan chowder. Early birds every day and the best wait staff and owners you will find anywhere. Dee and Jimmy provide consistently awesome service and being greeted by Dale is a an experienc in itself! Highly recommended.
